When I was a little girl, this was an unfenced man made babbling brook. Little old ladies and hip UW students would share the now nonexistent bench while waiting for their bus. Now, it has a soundtrack.

Three hair-dyed and tattooed guys standing on the corner in front of the Neptune Theater sharing pork chops out of a Starburst candy box.

I gave the boy a pocket full of change and went into McDonald's for breakfast. He was waiting when I left and he thanked me. He now had enough change to wash his bedding and get a coffee. I gave him my sausage McMuffin, he gave me a hug.

1993/94 - The Last Exit Cafe (the 2nd one) Acquaintances with an acoustic guitar sat and sang Pearl Jam's Black, impeccably, beautifully, memorably...

I was so nervous the first time I went to Off The Wall

1988/89 - The first time I skipped school, me and a friend took the bus to the U-District. We wondered up and down Roosevelt for a while. We didn't even make it to The Ave.
